A moment of rest after the rush of the holiday weekend.
Well-earned after blueberry-picking, tidying, and entertaining.
Of course there were also a trio of homemade condiments, blueberry pie, honey ice cream, jam, and a well-loved potato dish that made their way out of the kitchen over the last 3 days. Not to mention yet another of Deborah Madison's: Blueberry Lavender Compote.
A spoonful or two of the compote's syrup stirred into a glass of sparkling water compliments an afternoon pause perfectly.

Blueberry Lavender Fizz sounds lovely. I really need some pause and not doing anything for a while. I wish I could pause for, say, three months. But then all the glory of summer will have been passed and I will be sad.
So true! Summer seems to go so quickly.
I think you have the right idea, paying homage to summer produce and relaxing into the bounty. BTW, are you old enough to remember when Haagen dazs made Honey Vanilla?
Hmmm. I do recall Haagen Daz being pretty popular in the '80's, but I'm not quite sure I've ever actually had any of the stuff.
Is that Honey Vanilla the same that is still on the market? I thought I'd seen some advertised with the intention of spreading awareness of our honey bee's declining population. If that's the case, I may have to seek some out! Just for the bees, you understand ;)
What an absolutely beautiful jewel like colour your compote looks. Yes please I'd love a glass right now.
