the tiny pea shoot has started to flower!
Ostrich ferns - tall and cool, for a little hide-away
The garden is full; all planted in tidy rows, tucked away in a bed of straw. Gleefully weed-free - for the time being... Among the new transplants - 27 fragile tomato plants; and there's a chance of frost for the next 3 nights.
I'm thinking warm thoughts...

Lord, woman. 27 tomato plants? Are you canning?
Well, that will keep you in toms for a while!
Sending warmth your way. May they survive, and admirably.
The ferns are something special - they'll cast wonderful warm weather shadows.
Smoo - you betcha! 27 is scaling down from last year's 40-something. I have a hard time saying no to plants...
Lucy - thank goodness, no frost this morning, though I've taken precautions and covered the babes.
I was a bit excited when I saw the photo of those ferns - glad to know they are as photogenic as they are beguiling.
All the plants look lovely and healthy. I envy the space you got and admire your energy to cultivate and care for so many plants.
I just got red rhubarb plants from the farmer's market. There are three plants in the pot so I planned to keep one to myself and give one to Shannon and you. How funny is that you got rhubarb plants for yourself almost the same time!
Yeon - you are so thoughtful!
I guess we all have rhubarb on the brain. I just happened to see this one lone pot at the nursery and I knew I had to take it home...
I suspect in a year or two we'll all have more than enough to go around!
Yeon- I bought a rhubarb plant too because the lady said it was only $3 and it had three plants in it! How can she do that? I promised one to Alexandra and one to my friend Don, so feel free to give the third one to someone other than me.
Chelsea, I agree, your photos are gorgeous. I love the chive flowers- they look like they are about to burst.
Your photos are really beautiful.
Thanks, Mariana!
